What is a game?
What is a game?
For most people it is a way to kill time, or have some fun. It is more that that, it is a way to measure strategy in a controlled environment. Good games have rules that mostly maintain balance until an overwhelmingly good strategy is developed. While playing a simple game it also teaches social skills, no one likes a sore loser or an overbearing winner.
Now my approach to life is very much a game, a very serious one where losing can be very painful. Sometimes, I jump into games that other people are in and it is like looking over someone's shoulder and telling them what the next move should be. Sometimes they are not playing by the same rules and my advise is bad, unwelcomed, or possibly harmful. I call that my lack of maturity, and it always gets me in trouble.
Sometimes, I completely forget to monitor attitude during play. Usually after several successful moves I forget about the social vector. Part of the game is getting to play again, if you are in a group where you always win, they will not always continue to play with you. Same holds true if your strategy is faulty, and you always lose.
Maybe I should keep score in life? Some people use assets, credit, or cash to measure weather the are winning or not. Others measure success in how much pain they have avoided. I am sure there are as many ways to score life as there are people in the world.
I don't know if I will start keeping score, but I hope that I am at least fun to play with.
