What is step one?
What is step one?
<07/10/2024 03:14am: This one is warm up exercise for a principle of the "regular day".>
I keep having this recurring conversation with people at work. Mostly folks that have been doing there job for a long time and really know what they are doing.
Ask a stupid question get...
Then I will ask why not just do this first, they always have a complicated answer for me and always want to say if I do step twelve first it makes more since. Or the other people won't do their part and I won't be able to do step one again. I try to reason with them that step one is getting way too low a priority and it is making the other people's job harder in the long run. I get the same look like I am from a different planet. Might be true, the jury is still out on that one. At any rate a soon as I question why step one has been abandoned I get this exhaustive list of why step one does not make any since whatsoever. Why is step one so complicated and how in the world would you expect me to understand step 12 on my first day? Yes doing step 12 first makes since in response all those complicated issues but now step one through 11 are not even being done! Any advantage of the first 12 steps (verification, and timing) are gone.
A little story that might help.
Yes Virginia there is a a Santa Clause, for those that disagree, maybe it is the spirit of Santa that is real, as you gain skill, and experience you will see that he is real, he is just not what you thought he was. Look folks I realize the way things are today step two is a distant dream, but for now lets at least get step one going.
Suggestion from the peanut gallery:
Lets look for ways to make step one consistent, predictable, and as simple as possible, and give people the opportunity to learn it well before moving them on to step 12 or better yet let them do step one until it becomes tedious and boring then tell them about step two.
